ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Lenise Murrell, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-C

Lenise Murrell is a dual-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with experience caring for children, teens, and adults. Her clinical focus includes the evaluation and treatment of anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, stress, burnout, and other mental health concerns, with a special interest in supporting women of color and high-functioning women.

Her background in both primary care and psychiatry allows her to look beyond symptoms alone and consider the broader factors that may be affecting a person’s mental and physical well-being. Lenise believes psychiatric care should be collaborative, evidence-based, and individualized, with patients actively involved in understanding their diagnosis, treatment options, and goals.

She founded Melané Psychiatry & Wellness to create the kind of psychiatric practice she wanted patients to experience—care that is thorough, approachable, and centered on the person rather than the diagnosis.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Helpful information about appointments, services, and treatment at Melané Psychiatry & Wellness, including virtual and in-office care.

Do you see children, or only adults?

Melané Psychiatry & Wellness provides care for both children and adults, seeing patients ages 6 and up. For minors, a parent or legal guardian must be present and involved in scheduling and treatment planning.

What conditions do you treat?

We treat a range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and stress-related concerns, along with medical weight management.

Are appointments in person or virtual?

Melané Psychiatry & Wellness offers both virtual and in-office appointments. Virtual visits are available to patients located in Tennessee at the time of their appointment. In-office visits are available for patients regardless of location.

How long are appointments?

Initial evaluations typically last 45–60 minutes, and follow-up appointments are usually 30 minutes.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit is a comprehensive evaluation where we discuss your history, current concerns, and goals. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan.

Do you prescribe controlled substances, including for ADHD?

Yes, when clinically appropriate. Controlled substances, including certain ADHD medications, are prescribed based on a thorough evaluation and ongoing monitoring in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

Do you offer therapy, or only medication management?

Melané Psychiatry & Wellness specializes in psychiatric evaluation and medication management, with brief supportive therapy incorporated into visits as needed. If you already have an outside therapist, we're happy to coordinate care with them for a more comprehensive treatment approach.

Can I request an ESA letter or other documentation?

Documentation such as ESA letters, FMLA forms, and accommodations are provided only after a clinical evaluation and when medically appropriate.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, Melané Psychiatry & Wellness operates as a self-pay practice. However, we can provide a superbill upon request that you may submit directly to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your individual insurance plan.

What is a superbill and how does it work?

A superbill is a detailed receipt of services that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may receive partial reimbursement directly from your provider.

How soon can I be seen?

Appointment availability varies, but we strive to offer timely access to care. You can view availability and book directly online.
